Introduction:

Romantic relationships, political wars and the realization of what the heart truly wants.. these are the main themes of this drama, which is based on a mang-hwa (Korean manga), also by the same name, about a normal teenager and her life as she marries into the Korean Monarchy.

Storyline:

Chae Kyung (Yoon Eun Hye) is a high school student studying fashion design in one of Korea’s top high schools. Her wants in life are simple, having fun with her friends, eating tok-poki, a new MP3 player and everything else that teenagers her age are interested in. One thing sets her life apart from the rest though. Her schoolmate is non other than the Crown Prince to the present day Korean Monarchy, Lee Shin (Joo Ji Hun). She knows of his existence but he has never bothered to find out anything about anyone in the school, concerned only with his own group of friends and Hyo Rin, the one girl who has caught his eye.

This changes when she overhears his proposal to Hyo Rin as he is faced with the responsibility of getting married due to his father’s ailing health. Hyo Rin, a dedicated ballerina, rejects his proposal as she wants to concentrate on her career. Chae Kyung’s phone rings and Shin looks up, seeing that someone was outside the door. He chases after her in vain.

He meets her again as he sees her on the street from his car. Stopping, he warns her not to say anything, and her impression of him is nothing less than zero. She goes back, only to find out that her grandfather was the best friend of the previous King of Korea, and had arranged her marriage with the present Crown Prince!

Torn between her family and her dreams, she finally decides to marry into the monarchy so that she can save her family from their debts. She stays in the palace, guarded under strict rules and palace maids as tough as nails. However, she slowly starts to win the hearts of everyone due to her happy and warm personality, except for Shin that is..

Shin seems to see her as a clown, someone that he has to put up with because of responsibility. And although she does her best to improve her relationship with him, he is still besotted with Hyo Rin.

Lee Yul comes into the picture as Shin’s cousin, and the previous Crown Prince. He falls in love with Chae Kyung’s personality, and starts to harbour envious feelings to Shin as he feels that Shin doesn’t deserve her. He is also aware of the fact that if his own father had not passed away, HE would have been Chae Kyung’s husband. It is because of this that he assists his mother in the attempts to bring Shin down and reinstate himself as the future King of Korea.

Yul’s mother also uses Hyo Rin as an instrument to reach her goals, as she knows that Hyo Rin is also in love with Shin. She convinces her to come open to the media about her relationship with Shin, which blackens him further in the eyes of the public and in the heart of Chae Kyung, who has already fallen head over heels for her husband. Her heart shatters as Shin’s words and attitude stabs her, and slowly mends as Yul applies balm and soothing words. Will this change the direction in which her heart goes? Will she and Shin realize what their hearts really want?

Save the Last Dance for Me follows the story of Ji Eun-Soo (played by popstar Eugene Kim or Kim Yoo Jin formerly of popular Kpop group S.E.S.) who lives a very simple life managing the quaint country bed and breakfast inn with her father. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she grudgingly takes in Chang-ho (Ji Sung) whom she saved after being fatally injured during a robbery and has no recollection of who he is. Over the course of the year, they fall in love and become engaged.

Meanwhile Chang-ho is actually Kang Hyun woo, the son of large corporation in Seoul and has a fiancee who has been waiting for him to profess his love for her for 9 years. It was believed he had died in a fiery car crash as all his personal belongings were found with the charred remains of a body. His tutor and confidante, Jung Tae min, has been plotting revenge to get back at Hyun woo’s father whom he holds responsible for causing his parents to commit suicide 20 years ago. Having Hyun woo out of the picture makes his plans run smoothly until Tae-min accidentally meets Chang-ho face to face and realizes that Hyun woo is still alive.

Things take another turn for the unexpected when Hyun woo regains his memory up to the point when he was robbed and has no recollection of where he was for the past year.

It is interesting to note that while all this drama is taking place, the constantly begged question throughout was; “How long would you wait for your love to come?” In the case of Soo Jin, Hyun-woo’s fiancee, while she loves him and has been in love with him for 9 years, he still has not been able to reciprocate her affection for her. He goes through the motions simply because he’s grateful. Yet, while he can’t remember who Eun-soo is to him, he’s magnetically drawn to her.

And so follows the thought, ” … at what point does one let go of their love?” Eun-soo is conflicted by her feelings for Chang-ho, who is now Hyun woo while Soo Jin tries everything in her power to prevent Hyun woo from regaining the memory of his missing year.

World-wide famous’ hair salon Neo-Image has open and three popular hairstyle — Ya Si, Er Qi, Fei Nan Du’s exaggerated and beautiful hairstyle attracted huge crowds. Just at this time, an external official came to them for help. There was an event called “Chinese Hairstyle Competition” and they have found a part-time working young female hair-dresser to compete against the French stylist to help advertise the French Hair Products. As this competition will greatly affect the country’s status, the three guys decided to help.

Ya Si and the other two hairstylists decided to replace the young hair-dressers to help to earn a reputation for the country. When the bright and attractive model with the beautiful hairstyle that Ya Si and the others designed walked out, she received lots of cheers and support due to her fantastic hairstyle. The hair-dressers they chased off-stage were Neo-Image’s neighbour at the alley nearby, called “Zhong Nan Li Fa Ting” worker, Nuo Ruo Yi(Xiao Bei). Although Ya Si chased Xiao Bei off the stage, but seeing her snipe off the first bunch of hair, he realised that she had a lot of talent and secretly decided to win Xiao Bei over.

Neo-Image’s grand opening to the next door family-run style Zhong Nan Li Fa Ting was a huge attack. Zhong Nan’s boss was called Lao Bei, after leaving the army, he had set up this hair salon and now that the alley has opened such a new hair salon, their customers definitely decreased and even more importantly, his daughter Xiao Bei’s heart has been attracted to Neo-Image after its grand and exciting opening.

Chou Mei has followed Ya Si to 18 different towns and has finally gotten the change to have him make her hairstyle. On Neo-Image’s opening that night, Chou Mei stepped into the shop’s “Magic Room” and didn’t come out. Through the dark night’s illuminated winder, Xiao Bei saw Fei Nan Du wave a knife and fresh blood splashed out; Neo-Image back door, Xiao Bei saw Er Ya handed over a huge cloth bag to two other person and Xiao Bei thought that Chou Mei must have met an accident and decided to inform the police. Ya Si and the others were brought to the police station and Xiao Bei opened a Zhong Nan press conference to explain the murder she witnessed. Soon, Chou Mei returned home and that ended the whole exciting drama, but when the truth was figured out, it was already passed the newspaper’s news submission time.

Half a year ago, in an accident in England, Ya Si lost his mom and brother, but he didn’t dare to tell his grandmother that lived in the mountainside. Thus, he acted as his twin brother that died in the accident, Ya Jun to visit her. He happened to meet Xiao Bei who was doing voluntary work by cutting hair. Ya Si then had to continue to act.

Tong Tong’s betrayal caused Xiao Bei to lost the bet but when Xiao Bei thought of leaving her father, she felt very uncertain and met with an car accident when she was not paying attention. She felt a guy saving her at that time but she could only remember that he was wearing a basketball T-Shirt with the letters “23” on it.
On Xiao Bei’s first day at work, there was a fight between Emma and Mo Ke Feng over some advertisements project. Mo Ke Feng was at the top of her career when she fell in love with Fei Nan Du but flirty Fei Nan Du loves Emma and got caught by the media kissing her. It was only through Er Qi and Ya Si’s effort that Ke Feng was able to win back the advertisement project.

Er Qi’s god-father was one of Hong Kong’s gang’s big brother, Chen Ge. Er Qi’s father lost Er Qi to him in a bet and to Er Qi, Chen Ge was his forever master. As Chen Ge’s ninth wife Bai He likes Er Qi, it caused Chen Ge to have some misunderstandings and Er Qi had no choice but to escape Hong Kong. Qing Kong silently came back to the country but didn’t went to see Ya Si as promised and observed him from the side instead. She noticed that Ya Si was really nice to Xiao Bei and was slightly disappointed. Neo-Image organized a yearly friendly competition, Ping Bi, for workers that was due to start. They can find their friends to be models. Qing Kong hid her status and went near Xiao Bei to become her good friend. Ya Si’s twin brother Ya Jun had past away but Ya Si kept acting as his brother to hide the fact from his grandmother. To make her happy, Xiao Bei agreed to be Ya Jun’s girlfriend for a day and it was on that day that Xiao Bei noticed many of Ya Si’s qualities and fell for Ya Si.

The Ping Bi finally started and the most likely to be promoted hairstylist Mango, chose to have Zhe Ming who had a huge fight with Xiao Bei. Xiao Bei tried to concentrate and was about to show off her skills when Qing Kong came to Neo-Image and told Xiao Bei that she was Ya Si’s girlfriend. When Xiao Bei knew that, she was hurt and she lost all her ideas and innovation. Thus, she lost the Ping Bi. Er Qi also realized then that Xiao Bei’s feelings for Ya Si was out of the ordinary.

Qing Kong’s appearance made Xiao Bei face opponents in both her career and love. Her love with Ya Si was filled with uncertainty. Neo-Image’s England sales manager Anna, was Ya Si’s father’s mistress. When Anna returned to the country, she favoured Fei Nan Du more and when it came to the running of Neo-Image, she and Ya Si were both determine to go towards a hairstylist path and fought against each other. Are Ya Si and Er Qi able to prove that dreams would come true if you chase for it? Xiao Bei is stuck between Ya Si and Er Qi and who will she end up with in the end?…
